Consider Christ's Death

Instead of thinking that Jesus' death proves God loves us too much to threaten us with punishment, consider that the death of Christ actually proves the severity of our sin. The only way God could restore relationship with us was by sacrificing His most beloved Son. Why do you think the Bible gives two such extreme alternatives: Heaven and Hell? Sin is that bad. Sin deserves eternal consequences. The death of Christ should convince us all that God will not allow sin to remain unpunished. It will either be punished on His Son for all who come to Jesus or the consequences will be laid upon us personally if we reject Him. The fact that God would go to such extreme measures to rescue us should terrify anyone who rejects His offer of rescue. Don't think that Jesus suffered for us because you or I were so worthy of it. Not at all! Jesus died because we are all worthy of damnation. Please don't reject God's offer of rescue.

my goodness - I see a real post from you - I will come back and read it later -

I just wanted to let you know that I have left you a comment on my blog but wish to explain here - to be blunt - I expect some antagonism and rudeness and crassness from non-believers - I do not expect or accept it from those who profess Christ as Savior -

so I hope that I am over-reacting and you did not intend to be harsh or rude to Simon - and if so, please accept my apologies - but please remember that our goal is all things to all men so that some might be saved and our words are to have the sweet savor of Christ.

Thanks again for participating on my blog.

I just put a note on your blog which explains what I was trying to do. No, I wasn't trying to pick a fight. I am looking for consistency. If Simon believes he is worth no more than a bug, then why should he or Maalie be offended? Why would anything said to an insect come across as rude or harsh? I'm just looking for consistency out of these intellegent arthropodas, but I'm not finding it.

remember, when creation fell, so did our ability to think - so I don't guess I either expect them to be consistent or see when they're not being - especially about anything essential unless the Holy Spirit reveals it.

So - what is it that you do in Education in Nepal?

A bit of history that you may not know - there is another blog that Maalie, Lorenzo (Maalie's little sister) through a pastor from Florida who sometimes comments. Standard Maalie and Lorenzo comments - sometimes a bit crass and in your face, but no nearly as much as Simon has been - they were literally thrown off the blog - treated quite rudely too. Then the next post of the blog was about how wonderful the Christians there were because they were being persecuted for their faith by the nasty unbelievers that had found their way there. So, I am a bit sensitive that everyone - at least all the believers - are clearly viewed as gracious - forthright certainly, but seasoned with salt.

thanks for your explanation and for continuing to comment - I don't know how sincere some of the questions are, but there are others who read who do not comment - so I continue to answer and provide the forum hoping that some seeds are planted and others watered, at least a little bit.

Susan, it is not in my best interests to talk about my work on the web, for all eyes to see. Sorry for being a bit elusive.

Susan,
I should be honest and let you know that being 'gracious' via. email is one of my greatest weaknesses. I love to debate, but if you talked with my pastor, he'd let you know how many times I have offended him by email (that's why the name litl-luther really does suit me, besides being doctrinally Reformed). But I'll do my utmost not to come across offensive.... You do come across very gracious, by the way. But I really am not like that. I walk with the grace of an elephant when I write, but the force of my comments on occasion tends to carry similar weight.

Actually, that's not elusive - it gives me a clear picture as I have friends the same in multiple places around the world - no problem.
